BIOGRAPHY

Prior to joining GCD as a Project Element Manager in January 2020, Shawn Britton served as Metrology and Calibration Program Manager at NASA’s Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, VA. Shawn also served as LaRC’s Metrology and Calibration Standards Practice Engineer, providing center guidance and insight for international and industry measurement controls and standards. From 2013 to 2016, Shawn served as chairman of NASA’s Metrology and Calibration Working Group; an agency-wide technical group charged with promoting the development of agency requirements, guidance and tools for effective metrology and calibration program implementation.

Additionally, Shawn has been a Nuclear Design Engineer on Primary Loop Reactor Components for Los Angeles (SSN688) Class Submarines at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Honolulu, HI and the Lead Test Engineer on Steering Systems for Nimitz-Class Carriers (CVN) for Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA. Shawn holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i Mānoa in Honolulu, HI and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA. In his spare time, Shawn enjoys spending time with his sons, Evan and Tyson, daughter Kaitlyn and wife Peggy.
